In The Sabbath

Six days may work be done; but IN the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord : whosoever doeth any work IN the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. Exodus 31:15

God commanded that a person who did any work in the Sabbath would be put to death… even picking up sticks… I always thought that was over the top harsh punishment and did not line up with who I know Jesus to be personally… God’s gonna KILL a person for picking up sticks on a certain day?!?! What?!?

I read this verse again and I now understand it as a prophecy of the New Covenant… notice the command is no work IN the Sabbath and not ON the Sabbath. Christ IS the Sabbath. We are IN Him. He is the last day. All of our own efforts in Christ will be put to death because only HIS Work is worthy. His sacrifice is the only acceptable work. He does His work IN our hearts and thru us to change us at the heart level in the New Covenant.

Jesus speaks in parables so that those who have a love for truth seek Him out for understanding of the words He spoke.

And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?  He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. Matthew 13:10‭-‬11

I am coming to understand that even the law was written in parables… the words of Jesus are Spirit and Life… including the words of the law… they always testify of Him, His finished work on the cross, and Christ in you (the New Covenant), the battle of flesh vs Spirit.

God speaks a different language… a person must seek Him out to understand.

I struggled for a long time to understand if I was still under the law and I kept asking Jesus about it and what the new covenant was. He is concerned with the inside of the cup. The heart. Gods will for you is to seek Him with all of your heart, to draw near to Him, to know Him and to become one with His Heart/ Spirit. The only thing that pleases God is what He Himself produces IN you, changing your heart of stone into a heart of flesh by His Spirit in you.❤

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Seek the truth in all things.

  1. Love that.. sabbath was always Jesus, whom is the last day and our true rest. His works was finished.. wow, Jesus saying it is finished on the cross is like when He said it in Genesis. Love that abt how we need to seek Jesus to learn *His* language and truth instead of turning to ourselves n knowledge. The natural man cant percieve it.

  2. Hi, thank you for expressing your hunger in seeking truth in the Lord.

I have written about the scriptural fact that Christians aren’t under the law in the new covenant.
But I also present my videos about this topic as well.
Here’s the link to my videos about Christian topics, look for the video about Christians and the law:

  3. Thank you for sharing this- I’ve never read anyone’s blog before but the Holy Spirit led me here…He is so good to give me confirmation of this path to His TRUTH He has me on. Thank you for being obedient and sharing His heart through yours. The understanding of the use of the word IN here is amazing and satisfying to my soul. We were almost swept up by the false doctrines of the Hebrew Roots movement but Jesus didn’t let me be fooled, praise Him! Im reading through all of your posts and have been shown so many of the same truths! He is raising up His army- the time is NOW!
